Year of the Gay is a queer owned and run clothing brand operating on stolen land. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the many lands and waters which we live, work, learn, grow and advocate on, paying particular respect  to the Turrbal and Jagera people of Meanjin. We pay our respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

Year of the Gay acknowledges the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people hold in the communities we advocate for. We cannot begin to understand or achieve true queer liberation and freedom in this country until we recognise the injustices of its colonisation.

We stand in solidarity with First Nations people through the liberation, freedom and restitution of their land.

Always was, always will be, Aboriginal Land.

I always felt there was an absence of queer brands, so I decided to create one. 

The concept for Year of the Gay came to me in 2019 and it officially launched in 2020.

Y.O.T.G was (and continues to be) inspired by the community that surrounds me in Meanjin. I am dedicated to celebrating queer history, culture, identity and advocating for a more inclusive future. 

Year of the Gay is a space for EVERYONE !!!

I help Kate with a handful of things at YOTG but my main party tricks are Social Media Coordinator, Marketing, PR & Content Creation 🫦

Year of the Gay is one of the most meaningful brands that I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I'm incredibly fortunate that my queer identity, expression, advocacy and creativity can all co-exist in something I can call a job??? Crazy !!

I'm a marketing specialist and content creator, among many other things for YOTG & based in Naarm !

I feel incredibly lucky to be part of the YOTG team and to exercise my queer identity, expression and self everyday through my creative input! When I’m not in front of the camera, you’ll probably find me playing bass, listening to music, or connecting with community - I love a good kiki ;)

I love contributing to a brand that means so much to me and so many others. It’s a space where I can fully be myself, and that’s really special to me!
